KFM was started in 1984 by Tom and Helen Kroening. Tom took a risk by leaving a larger regional brokerage company in Brookfield, WI to start KFM with only Old Orchard juice as his client. With the help of many employees over the years, KFM took the small, unknown brand Old Orchard and helped them grow to a well known household name by the early 1990's. All of the Kroening's success with KFM came before cell phones and the internet; when visiting with a customer meant meeting with them in person and forming a relationship based on trust and a high quality of service. Even though the company is up to date technologically, as most companies are, KFM continues to build individual, trusted relationships with all clients and customers.

Unlike other brokerage companies, KFM does not do business with just any product line or brand. Each brand or line that KFM carries is individually and carefully selected to ensure that this is the best decision for the company as well as the clients and customers. The brand and line portfolio is kept smaller, purposefully, in order to stay focused on the current lines represented and to provide those companies the time and attention they deserve to grow. Good relationships with wholesalers in this market are prioritized as well as relationships with multiple distributors to aid in delivering the item to stores as seamlessly and as cost affective as possible.
